India vs England 2016 Test Series Squads :England Tour of India 2016-17 is going to be start on 9 November. Team India squad for test series has been announced on Thursday. All-rounder Hardik Pandya has been named in the Indian squad for the first two Tests as the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the 15-member squad in Mumbai for the Test series at home against England.
Hardik Pandya made his ODI debut against New Zealand in October 2016. In the first match he took 3 wickets and get his first man of the match in ODI. Overall he played 4 matches and took 4 wickets with the strike rate 39.00 and economy 5.42. He is also good in batting. He batted in 2 innings and made 45 runs with the strike rate of 100. But because of being young he has to learn so many things. He has to improve his skills in batting as well as bowling.
That’s why coach Anil Kumble and Test captain Virat Kohli gave him another chance to prove himself in Test matches. MSK Prasad, the chief of selectors, reckoned that he is someone who the selectors feel has the potential to fit in as an all-rounder given the way he has progressed over the years. Indian team need a good test all rounder. And Hardik Pandya has that kind of skills. He’s one all-rounder we feel is an equally competent bowler and batsman, along with his fielding.
With Hardik Pandya, Gautam Gambhir retained his spot in the squad as an opener after KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan failed to recover from their injuries. Ishant Sharma also return in team India test squad in place of injured Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Karun Nair has been retained in the absence of Rohit Sharma, who suffered a hamstring injury during the ODI series against New Zealand.
England will head into the first Test on November 9 in Rajkot without playing any warm up matches. Following the first Test, the teams are scheduled to play four more matches in Vishakapatnam, Mohali, Mumbai and Chennai respectively.
